There are tons of games that are 1080P capable on the 360 but aren't on the PS3 even though they are the same title. I recently got DiRT 3 as well as a new video card and screen. Oh, I always thought the xbox just scaled signals into 1080p but I guess I was wrong. My setup now consists of a Logitech Momo clamped to a table about 5 inches away from a 40 inch 1080p LG screen, being run by a Phenom II X23GHz and an HD7770 GHz edition. I got DiRT 3 free with the video card and Ive been playing the crap out of it, and have gotten to the point.

The 360 has more owners so the developers are going to target the system that has more users rather than the one that doesn't. If somehow the PS3 surpasses the 360 in sales and popularity, then developers may change their priority. You pretty much hit the nail on the head. PS3 games are on Blu ray discs while 360 games are on regular dvd discs but since PS3 games are just a port, it's poorer quality.
