It just doesn't have ANY features, I can't even find a way to resize an image. In it's current state however, I find it completely useless. It is quite fast, and has high quality zooming (both in & out). I haven't run into any problems with it (aside from a slight delay in maximizing the window, but I think that may be an inherant characteristic of q4). No unwanted interactions with regular xnview. Finally manged to get it though, and it seems to work fine.

It would start downloading, immediately hang, then "complete" the file at only 750bytes. Downloading was a major hassle, the server kept crapping out on me. In any case, I got impatient & went ahead & tried it. I was wondering if the new version could still do that smoothly. With prior versions of xnview, I always stuck the new version in a seperate folder so that I could easily go back to the old one if the new one was too buggy. Newer versions of a program (especially when it's a dramatically redeisgned version) often don't like to be installed on the same comp at the same time as the previous version, they cause errors by reading/writing the settings data for the wrong prog, and things of that nature. I am excited by MP's potential and attempt to use it as much as possible in order to identify bugs, omissions, and behavior quirks.Īt least give it a try to see what the implementation direction is!
WHAT IS XNVIEW MP PLUS
Hopefully, MP will eventually have all the current XnView functionality PLUS all the new stuff enabled by the improved internal architecture. The encouraging thing is that MP is just beginning (version 0.12, currently). Categorization via "active" thumbnail icons Instant browser filtering via search box on toolbarġ1. Nascent support for XML themes files (View->Style->Theme)Ĩ. Dynamic thumbnail sizing via slider in toolbarĦ. Greatly improved Compare function w/multiple Compares in tabsĥ. Intended to look and behave the same on all platforms.Ĥ. You can then select the duplicate and delete it.I can't speak for Pierre's plans, but these are some things that I observe about MP so far:ġ.

You can also visually inspect the two images here (e.g. Give it some time and that should open a results window with the duplicates it has found along with a summary of the similar data.If that doesn’t yield results you can try the last option Similar picture content which is more accurate but slower. For better accuracy, however, use Same file data which is more accurate and relatively fast. Use Same filename if you’re comparing images that use a similar file pattern or that are contained in different folders.Below it, select the method/algorithm to use to find the duplicates, then select OK.You can add images using the Add files… button, or folders containing the images using the Add folder… button. That should open a small window to add the files to compare.Open XnViewMP and in the toolbar select Tools then Search similar files… or Find similar files… in the classic version.I’ll be using XnViewMP for the purpose of this tutorial as it’s image compare implementation is more intuitive than the one in the classic version.
WHAT IS XNVIEW MP PORTABLE
A portable version is also available for those on Windows.

The two are almost identical in features, though the latter supposedly has better performance.
WHAT IS XNVIEW MP MAC OS X
It’s available on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X and comes in two flavors: XnView (Classic) and XnView MP (Multi-platform) If you haven’t yet installed XnView, you can get if from the official page here.
